New Course - Using XML and Web Services in Domino 7
XML has become the de-facto standard for data exchange between applications. New technologies like AJAX and web services use XML as the format for transporting data. Applications from Excel spreadsheets to DB2 are using XML. Web services are an open standard to allow interoperability between computers via a network. Release 7 of the Domino server added the ability to host web services to expose Domino data to other applications.

This new distance course from The Learning Continuum Company (TLCC) will introduce the Domino Developer to XML and web services. This course is designed for the experienced Domino developer who already has an understanding of Java and LotusScript. It covers:
  • The basics of XML including terms such as "well-formed" and "valid."
  • How to incorporate XML into Domino Applications using standard design elements such as forms, pages and views
  • Using Domino agents and Java servlets to produce XML from a variety of sources in Domino
  • Parse and import XML data into Domino applications using LotusScript and Java agents
  • Use XLST style sheets to transform XML data in Domino agents
  • Use the Domino XML Language (DXL) to export and import Domino data and design elements.
  • Creating Domino Web Services
  • Develop simple and complex LotusScript web services with a variety of different data types including lists and classes
  • Develop simple and complex Java web services with a variety of different data types including lists and classes
  • Error handling for both Java and LotusScript web services
  • Write Java-based Web Services clients
This course makes use of either Eclipse or Rational Application Developer 7 as an application development platform in addition to Domino Designer 7. There are many real life activities and demonstrations you will do right in Domino. An expert instructor is a click away if you need any help!
